These 16 mods are updated for the 1.1.x game, not deprecated, and have at least 1,000 downloads on Thunderstore. Mod menus, cheat tables and the mod manager itself are left out. Every card links to the mod's own download page.
Back up %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Dazed Games\How to Fish before modding.
You do not need a mod for more players. Since patch 1.0.4 a lobby holds up to eight players, even though the Steam page still says one to four. Videos recommending a "more players" mod date from before that patch.
For modded co-op, every player needs the same game and mod versions, and some mods (AlwaysPremium, for example) only work when the host has them.
Almost all How to Fish mods are published on Thunderstore; a few, such as Stackable Items and HowToFishExtended, are also on Nexus Mods. Either way they are BepInEx plugins for the Steam version of the game, installed with the steps above.
Most failures come from a game update: check that each mod has been updated since the last patch. If the BepInEx folders never appear after the first launch, the loader was unpacked into a subfolder; move it beside How to Fish.exe. Launching from Steam instead of the manager also skips the mods.
MelonLoader is used by mod menus that spawn items, multiply money or add god mode. They are cheats rather than mods, can break saves and achievements, and trainers from unknown sites can carry malware, so they are not listed here. Regular How to Fish mods use BepInEx.
Custom islands come through the HTF Map Loader library. Boom Lagoon is the current example: it adds a nuclear test-site island to the Radar, and the mod manager installs the loader with it.
