Drip Creatures: How to Farm Every Drip for the Fishipedia Achievement

Finish the Fishipedia achievement by fishing the lure that holds each missing drip, releasing every other bite and raising the odds with the Wishbone.

Every hooked regular creature has a 10% chance to be its Drip version, a glossy variant with a rainbow-coloured name. Which creatures can bite depends only on the lure you use, not on the island you fish from. So the way to finish the Fishipedia is to look up the lure for each missing drip, fish with that lure, and release every non-drip bite until the right one comes up.

The three collection achievements

  • Drip: kill any one drip creature. Almost every player has it (96.2%).
  • Collector: kill every creature listed in the Fishipedia, 62 entries in 1.1.3 (17.1% of players).
  • Fishipedia: kill the drip form of every one of those creatures. Only 3.6% of players have it, and it is the real grind.

Read the Fishipedia

Press Tab to open it. Each page lists creatures with their sale price, and the counters at the bottom show how many creatures and how many drip creatures you have. A name drawn in rainbow colours means you already own that drip; a plain white or single-colour name means you still need it.

The lure decides the catch

Pick the lure that holds the creature you are missing. Each lure has its own fixed pool:

  • Ham (the Crab-Fishing Rod's free bait): Brown Crab and Shrimp. Hot Dog ($1): Rock Crab and Lobster.
  • French Fry (the Fishing Rod's free bait): Gar, Mackerel and Pike.
  • Beginner Lure ($3): Cod, Pike, Piranha, Carp, Salmon, Triggerfish, Goby, Perch and Goldfish.
  • Standard Lure ($15): Catfish, Bluegill, Sea Urchin, Yellow Boxfish, Angelfish, Needlefish, Koi Fish, Clownfish, Seahorse and Bowlfish.
  • Professional Lure ($50): Sengarat, Red Snapper, Tigerfish, Parrotfish, Bass, Halibut, Dogfish, Flying Fish, Eel, Voxelfish and Dripper.
  • Scientific Lure ($500): Stonefish, Blobfish, Anglerfish, Tripod Fish, Oarfish and Superdwarf Fish.
  • Crab Carcass (free from its mini island): the eight euro creatures.

You can fish a Professional Lure on Island 1 and still catch Bass and Halibut. The rarest drips sit in big pools: Voxelfish and Dripper bite only 3.6% of the time on the Professional Lure, and Seahorse and Bowlfish 4% on the Standard Lure. Use the fish database for the exact chance of each creature. The boss entries in the Fishipedia come from their boss lures or quest baits instead.

Drop and recast: the farming loop

Cast, and when something bites, look at the prompt and the creature before you reel it in. If it is not the drip you want, right-click to drop the creature. The lure stays in the water and usually gets another bite straight away, so one cast can cycle through several creatures. When the game flags a drip on the line, hold or spam the left mouse button to reel it in fast.

With lures, keep reeling slowly while you wait; a lure sitting still gets far fewer bites. Bait-type items like the Hot Dog work from a standing cast.

Never use Dynamite for this. Creatures killed by an explosion never come out as drips.

What it costs

Every bite has a chance to use up the lure: the Hot Dog goes on 40% of bites, the Beginner Lure 35%, the Standard Lure 30%, the Professional Lure 25% and the Scientific Lure 20%. Buy lures in stacks of twenty or more.

The expensive drips are the creatures with a small share of their lure's pool. A creature with a 4% bite share, like the Seahorse on the Standard Lure, needs on average 1 / (0.04 × 0.10) = 250 bites before its drip shows up. At a 30% loss rate that is about 75 Standard Lures. With the Wishbone at its 25% maximum, the same drip takes about 100 bites, or 30 lures.

That is why it pays to wait. Islands 1 and 2 earn little, while from Island 3 onward grilled catches bring in thousands of dollars per hour, and the lure bill stops mattering.

Raise the odds with the Wishbone

The Wishbone sits at the top of a stone-pillar parkour islet, one of the random mini islands. Each level costs euros (€5 for the first, then rising to €20, €50 and up) and adds 3% to the drip chance: 10% → 13% → 16% → 19% → 22% → 25%. Five levels is the maximum. Buy it before the long hunts.

Spend the extras

Every drip you catch beyond the first of its kind still has a use. Feed drip creatures into the Reel of Fortune slot machines to roll for weapon and boat skins; that is how most players unlock skins while finishing the Fishipedia.
