How to spawn the Manta
No bait: the Manta comes from a barrel on one of the random mini islands.
- Sail away from the main islands until the barrel islet appears: two rocks joined by a wooden bridge, copper barrels and a sign warning against throwing barrels into the sea.
- Carry the loose black barrel onto your boat and sail to a large island such as the Volcano.
- Throw Dynamite into the water there first to collect fish for food.
- Drop the barrel where the water is deep; it turns into the Manta once it sinks about 1.5 m.
- If nothing happens, another boss may still be out, or the barrel was already used this visit.
How to beat the Manta
It is fast and erratic, jumping around and diving out of the water at you.
- Keep steady fire on it while it moves.
- Add Dynamite when it lands near you.
- Watch its escape bar like any other boss.
- If it wins, the barrel is gone: sail away until the islet despawns and find a fresh one.
Manta solo and in co-op
Solo, the move to a big island is what makes it survivable. Extra players raise its health like any boss.
Weapons for the Manta
A fully upgraded Assault Rifle with a few Dynamite sticks is the reliable kit. The Bow works if you want a challenge.
Manta health
The Manta has 8,400 health on Normal (75% on Easy, 125% on Hard). It arrived in 1.1.0, and patch 1.1.2 fixed its model facing the wrong way.
What the Manta pays
The body sells for euros: €60 base, usually €79 to €99 once size and kill bonuses apply, and up to 1.5x when cooked. One kill pays for the €25 Bow with plenty left for upgrades.
It is a Fishipedia entry, so Collector needs it.
