How to spawn the Sunfish
The Sunfish comes from the same $40 lure as The Old Pike, so each cast is a coin flip.
- Buy the Beginner Boss Lure ($40) at the Forest gift shop.
- Fit it on the long Fishing Rod and cast; half the time The Old Pike bites instead.
- Got The Old Pike instead? Kill it and try a new lure. The plain Beginner Lure can also hook a Sunfish, but only on 1.5% of bites.
How to beat the Sunfish
Its attack is a broad charge along the beach.
- Move away from rocks and trees so a charge never traps you against them.
- Shoot its broad body between charges.
- Leave the Dynamite in your pocket; this close, the explosion damages you about as badly as it damages the Sunfish.
Sunfish solo and in co-op
Solo it is a short fight with an early gun. Every extra player in the lobby raises its health.

A Pistol or Shotgun from the Forest gift shop is enough.
Sunfish health
The Sunfish has 1,500 health on Normal (75% on Easy, 125% on Hard). Its escape bar runs for about 180 seconds.
Is the Sunfish worth it?
The body sells for only $50, so fight it for the Fishipedia entry you need for Collector, not for money.
