What the Fishing Rod is for
Every lure from the Beginner Lure to the Scientific Lure, every boss lure and the quest baits from Island 2 on (Leech Bait, Carrot, Fish Bucket) go on this rod.
With nothing fitted it uses French Fry, a free bait whose bites are Gar, Mackerel and Pike.
Where to buy the Fishing Rod
It costs $3 and is sold from the Forest island onward. Buy it before the Giant Piranha: the Leech Bait does not fit the crab rod.
Fishing Rod vs Crab-Fishing Rod
The Crab-Fishing Rod is the Island 1 rod for crabs and shrimp; it takes Ham, the Hot Dog and the Empty Beer Can. Most players carry both.
