Professional Boss Lure: how to catch the Tuna
The Tuna bites on the Professional Boss Lure every time, and very rarely on the ordinary Professional Lure.
- Buy the Professional Boss Lure ($1,200) at the Rocks bait shop.
- Fit it on the long Fishing Rod and cast from the shore.
- If you plan the Dynamite trap, stack the sticks on the gun shop floor before casting.
Tuna fight: dodge the charges
The Tuna aims its jumps at where you are heading, so fake one way and cut back.
- Run to one side for half a second, then reverse; it lands where you would have been.
- Shoot during the pause after each charge.
- The ground phase is the risky one: when it stops leaping and chases you on land, keep the circle going and break away at a sprint.
- Trap option: pull the hooked Tuna into the gun shop onto the Dynamite pile, step outside and shoot the pile.
Tuna solo and in a group
Solo, the side-step rhythm is the whole fight; the Dynamite trap removes it entirely.
With more players the Tuna has more health, so the trap is worth even more in a big lobby.
Weapons and the Dynamite trap for the Tuna
An upgraded SMG or Shotgun handles the charges, and the Sniper Rifle you need for the Albatross is good for the pauses.
Players short on gear use the Dynamite pile in the gun shop, which kills it in one blast.
Tuna health
The Tuna has 5,000 health on Normal (75% on Easy, 125% on Hard). Patch 1.0.12 nerfed it slightly.
Keep the Tuna whole for the Albatross
Do not sell or cook this Tuna: it is the bait for the Albatross. A spare one sells for $2,000.
Carry it to the middle of the grassy area by the shop and drop it; the Albatross arrives a few seconds later.
Eating a whole Tuna also counts for the Competitive eating achievement.
