Scientific Boss Lure: how to spawn the Goblin Shark
Only the Scientific Boss Lure brings it up; the ordinary Scientific Lure will not.
- Buy the Scientific Boss Lure ($5,800) at the Volcano military supplies.
- Fit it on the long Fishing Rod and cast from a stable ledge.
- Top up your health and food before it bites.
How to beat the Goblin Shark
It lunges suddenly with its long jaw, so deny it a straight line.
- Strafe along the shore so it never lines up a charge.
- Fire when it recoils from a missed lunge.
- Never fight it in melee range, and treat every hit as serious.
Goblin Shark solo and in co-op
Solo, strafing is the whole fight. Each extra player raises its health, so a group trades a longer health bar for more guns.
Weapons for the Goblin Shark
A fully upgraded Assault Rifle is the strongest choice; a maxed SMG or Sniper Rifle is enough if you have not reached the rifle yet.

The Goblin Shark has 7,500 health on Normal (75% on Easy, 125% on Hard).
What to do with the Goblin Shark
Sell it: $6,200 as caught, or about $9,300 once cooked in a lava stream, and more with kill-score bonuses. No other single kill pays as much.
The Grillmaster also accepts it in place of a Blue Shark, and eating it whole counts for Competitive eating.
