Third island quest step by step
The tourist in the yellow life jacket against a palm tree asks for an endangered creature.
- Buy the SMG kit at the kiosk; it serves both the optional shark and the boss.
- Optional first: buy the Standard Boss Lure ($280), kill the Blue Shark and give it whole to the Grillmaster.
- Fish Standard Lures until you land a Needlefish, Seahorse or Bowlfish, and trade it to the tourist for the Carrot.
- Summon the Pufferfish with the Carrot and kill it among the palm trees.
- Find the small Pufferfish Fin in the sand and give it to the tourist for the flash drive.
What to buy on the third island
The kiosk adds the SMG ($650), the Standard Lure ($15), the Standard Boss Lure ($280), the Badball and the Disc. Upgrades go to sharpening 9 and bullet tier 6, with a second extra slot, the boat radar and attachments; the Coconut ($350) is sold from the central palm.
Buy the SMG with the Extended Mag and Compensator, then Standard Lures. The Coconut is only for the optional Bing Bong fight.
Third island boss: the Pufferfish
The Pufferfish swells as you hit it until it jams between two palm trees; at half health it shrinks and leaves a poison trail. It has 18,000 health, the longest fight so far.
How to get endangered fish for island 3
Fish with the Standard Lure ($15). Needlefish (10.5% of bites), Seahorse and Bowlfish (4% each) are the endangered catches here, so roughly one bite in five is usable.
The kill score shows "Endangered Species" when you kill one. A drip version does not count. Superdwarf Fish, Oarfish, Dripper and Bing Bong are also accepted if you have one from elsewhere.
How to get the perfect cook on the grill
Unlock the grill by giving the Grillmaster a whole Blue Shark. Then hold F on a creature to see its value and hold it over the lit grill: the value rises while it cooks, up to 1.5 times the raw price.
Pull it off at the peak; past that the value drops and the creature finally burns. Cooked food also heals more.
Creatures on the Desert island
This is the Standard Lure island: ten catches from the $46 Catfish to the $150 Bowlfish, three of them endangered. Salmon (Beginner Lure), the Blue Shark, Bing Bong and the Pufferfish round out the list.

How to get off the 3rd island
His flash drive holds the coordinates of his home island, Island 4. Look for the new red Radar dot, usually in the direction behind the kiosk.
Pufferfish meat chunks ($200 each, about $300 cooked) are the money for the Island 4 gear.
